Alsup Elementary Bikes!

On Thursday morning, 2nd-grade students at Alsup Elementary rode brand new bicycles they would also get to take home! The nonprofit Wish for Wheels partnered with Sturgeon Electric Company and Industrial Constructors/Managers to donate more than 40 bicycles.

As students put on their safety helmets and got on the blue bicycles, some took off pedaling immediately while others learned to ride for the first time with the help of volunteers.

“We’re really happy that Wish for Wheels could provide this opportunity for our second graders,” said Principal Dawn Menard. “It’s amazing seeing them all out here riding around on their bikes so happy. I can’t wait for them to be outdoors more on their brand-new bikes.”

Thank you!

Attendance Matters! How to Build Good Attendance

Did you know? Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school– and themselves. Start
building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important.
Eventually, good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school, college, and their career.
Here are few simple things you can do:  1) Set a regular bedtime and morning routine, 2) try to schedule medical appointments and extended vacations when school is not in session. 3) If your child is anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, and other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable.
